1. Where did you grow up?

I was born in New York, but my family moved to Louisiana when I was very young. I was raised on the Westbank and I’m proud graduate of West Jefferson High School. Go Bucs!.

2. What made you want to become a lawyer?

At 19, I began work as an administrative assistant at Loyola Law Clinic in New Orleans, where we provided free legal assistant to indigent clients. Daily, I met with people who would walk into our office with no hope and in search for help. I witnessed some of the most brilliant legal minds take on their issues with integrity and compassion. I learned that lawyers were people in a unique position to help others…and I wanted to become one.

3. What do you enjoy most about being part of Burgos and Associates law firm?

My colleagues – I think we all actually like each other! I enjoy that no matter how busy or stressed the office can get on any particular day, there’s always someone to help lighten the load with humor.
Also, as a young attorney, I appreciate that I can work and learn alongside attorneys with years of experience that never hesitate to guide me.

4. Why should a client work with Burgos and Associates?

Because we offer legal solutions and obtain results. We also speak spanish.

5. What is your #1 advice for anyone thinking about getting a divorce in New Orleans?

I always recommend speaking with an attorney. Some couples agree to an “amicable divorce” and end up signing consent agreements that may have major legal implications on community assets and children involved.

6. What is your approach or philosophy in handling child custody cases?

Children are smarter and wiser than we give them credit for, no matter the age. It is important to listen to them and realize that everything we do affects them. In a custody dispute, parents often forget this.

7. What is your favorite Saturday afternoon activity?

Spending time with my family on the backyard patio – rain or shine – grilling and listening to music.

8. How would you describe your personality or style as an attorney?

A sniper – I move in silence. I observe, analyze and attack! ???? But seriously, I am thoughtful and compassionate too.

9. What would you be if you weren’t a lawyer?

A flight attendant.

10. What are the top three items on your Bucket List?

1) Visit Greece 2) Start a business 3) Pay off my student loan debt

11. As a Hispanic woman attorney, what has been your biggest challenge yet?

Walking into a courtroom filled with middle-aged lawyers. As a young Law-tina, it can be intimidating yet overwhelmingly empowering to realize that I belong in that room just as they.

12. Tell us any hidden talents, hobbies or a fun fact about you that your clients would have never guessed?

I’m really good at roller skating and I listen to Eminem, really loud, to boost myself up in the mornings.
